Adam Woods, Director of The Professionals Mudgee shares his experience with a groundbreaking new method to onboard a new recruit and manage the ongoing professional development needs of his team.
It’s no secret that the greatest challenges expressed by real estate leaders continue to be recruitment, onboarding and ongoing professional development. One young real estate leader who is achieving groundbreaking results in these areas, thanks to the power of customised learning on demand, is Adam Woods, a third generation real estate agent and Principal of The Professionals Mudgee.
Woods has just committed to a second year of a customised REA membership plan that covers the ongoing training and professional development needs of the entire team, from new recruits to management. In addition to REA’s Gold Membership benefits, The Professionals’ tailored membership plan includes quarterly Skype coaching sessions and a complete onboarding system that begins before a new recruit starts with the agency and continues throughout their first 90 days on the job. This article shares Adam's experience with this next generation style of learning and shows how he is a great example of the new breed of progressive real estate leaders.
A long-standing advocate of REA’s training courses and resources, Adam has established a recruitment and onboarding process that is already proving to be a great success in terms of ease of management and outcomes delivered. The process now in place at The Professionals Mudgee is as follows:
Real estate career hopefuls are directed to www.getajobinrealestate.com.au, to register their interest and complete Module 1 of The Complete Real Estate Success Program, Onboarding.
Potential candidates who have proven their commitment and enthusiasm by completing Module 1 are invited for a face-to-face interview.
The successful candidate is given a date of commencement and sent a 1-hour audio CD, which Adam recorded together with Lee Woodward in the studio. The new recruit is required to listen to the audio prior to commencement and arrive on day 1 with a list of questions. The audio sheds light on the journey ahead, introduces new recruits to the real estate process and gives them a benchmark of expectations following completion of the 90-day induction process. It also includes a series of role-plays, introduces them to the way the agency runs and a host of other information.
As part of the group’s custom membership plan, REA designed and developed a fully branded and customised employee starter pack for The Professionals Mudgee called The Success Manual. The manual steps the new recruit through the onboarding process and details the expectations during and immediately following their first 90-days on the job. The manual includes:
Following the first 90 days, each new recruit will attend REA’s flagship 2-day course as part of the group’s regular team attendance.
Adam says the first two new recruits to the team under the new system are nearing completion of their 90-day induction process. “We are definitely noticing a difference in terms of speed, ease and quality,” he said.
Adam has opted to include quarterly Skype coaching sessions facilitated by Lee Woodward and attended by every member of the team as part of their tailored REA membership plan. Adam, who attends the sessions with his team said, “I went from being captain or coach to team player. The coaching sessions allow us to drill down into different aspects of the real estate process. They also create accountability to continue to develop what we have learnt since attending The Complete Salesperson Course as a team.”
Lee Woodward is currently producing in-house custom audio programs for other real estate agencies as part of their own tailored REA membership packages. With the convenience of monthly payments, they are an invaluable investment into the future of your real estate business.
