Completely built from the ground up by real estate agents, Complete Data continues to evolve to meet the needs of the nation’s best real estate agents. So with that in mind, Complete Data is going mobile – able to be accessed from wherever users need it. At home, in the car, on site. Anywhere.
Complete Data has gone into the Cloud and has moved from a point and click model to a touch and swipe one. As Lee Woodward says, the benefit of moving to Cloud is that, “it gives you the iPad. And the iPad and tablets are not going anywhere”.
It’s a brave new world we are entering but there’s no need to panic. Complete Data will always be available as a single version for use on a single laptop. Similarly, it will continue to be possible to run Complete Data on a small Mac or PC server.
However, Complete Data has always been about choice and providing different models to suit the needs of all the players in the real estate industry so the opportunity to take space in the Cloud will be made available for customers.
So the question is, why the Cloud? How will moving into the Cloud make a difference to your business?
The man who encouraged Lee to make the move to the Cloud is Mason Degani, Managing Director of DPT Solutions. Mason, an IT professional dedicated to the real estate industry, explains exactly what the Cloud is by defining what it isn’t.
“When your server is not in your office, that is Cloud. When you do not host it – that’s Cloud. When you sit in your office and your server is somewhere else, and you access it using your Internet connection – that’s Cloud.”
Mason continues, “So if you are at home and you access your server which is in the office, your server is in Cloud for you at home. So basically, when the technology goes in the Cloud it means you do not have to worry about any server in the office; you do not have to worry about cool room; you do not have to worry about backup security, anything.
Everything will go somewhere else in a data centre, in a secure data centre, and then all you do is just use it.” Wherever you are, with Cloud you can simply access and update your data via any Apple, Android or Windows device with all the functionality you need to Find, List, Communicate and Sell. The benefit of having data off-site is that you can access it anywhere. You don’t have to be within your own office code to actually see the data. It’s all still your data, your log-in, without having the bother and headaches of cables and a server room. With Cloud, all your data is backed up in a secure and safe location with storage needs able to be adapted quickly to suit your situation. You no longer need to update your server.
Moving to Cloud is the most costeffective way to manage and maintain your IT systems with updates to Complete Data's platform (FileMaker) provided automatically.
Mason sees other benefits as well. He says, “Security is one of the most important things because obviously the data is somewhere secure and you don’t have to worry about it. Backup is very important - very, very important. One of the services that DPT offers, is total IT system check-up. Amazingly 70 per cent of IT systems that we have audited had major problems with backup. Their backup either never worked, or it just sometimes works, sometimes doesn’t, or it backs up everything but the data that it’s supposed to backup. So it backs up all the files that actually you don’t need to back up, but it doesn’t back up your finance application.”
The Cloud takes away these problems.
So how much does accessing the Cloud cost? Mason explains, “The great thing is you do not have to buy it. You just pay monthly, which is I guess the most important factor for people. You don’t have to buy expensive servers; and after three years - now it’s outdated, go and spend another 20k and buy another server.”
Moving to the Cloud has allowed some innovations in Complete Data with iPads as well. Mason explains, “That’s the great thing. When all your sales agents have iPads, they can just use it to do whatever they want. They don’t have to come back to the office, sit in front of the computer, and start doing the data entry. It makes people more productive and means that sellers are out selling, doing what they do best rather than wasting their time on data entry.”
Lee explains, “Our iPad technology is now working through FileMaker Go which is downloadable from the iTunes App store, absolutely free. If you’re a Complete Data Cloud user, simply access and update your data via any Apple, Android or Windows device with all the functionality you need to Find, List, Communicate and Sell.”
Lee says, “For example, my wife could enter data at home now, but using an iPad. She could enter and fix up data for me with an iPad, and I wouldn’t have that licensing issue that I had before because of the access licence we have introduced!”
